Extension Lecture on Women Empowerment and Safety
Women Cell of N.B.G.S.M. College, Sohna organized an online Extension Lecture on ‘Women Empowerment and Safety’ on 10th January 2022 at 1 PM through Google Meet. Professor Urmila Sharma (Educationist and Social Thinker) was the resource person for the session. 77 students and female staff members attended the session. Firstly, Ms. Lipika (Member, Women Cell) shared profile of the resource person in brief. Prof. Urmila spoke about women’s position after independence and steps taken by government for their upliftment. She explained about some basic tools that could help in women empowerment such as education, being independent, making decision on her own etc. She also talked about Ambedkar Scholarship Scheme, Section 134 A i.e., free education to special category and Durga Shakti App. She also talked about some real-life inspiring stories as she is associated with NGO. She motivated the students to spread awareness among society to make every woman empowered. The students also shared their views and a girl talked about how her family supported her for education after marriage. In the end, Ms. Neha Gupta (Convener, Women Cell) presented the vote of thanks.
