Extension Lecture : Gender Sensitization
On the 11th of April, the Women’s Cell of NBGSM College organized an extension lecture on Gender Sensitization. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Urmila Sharma, and it was held in the Smart Room of the City Campus. The event was attended by more than 80 students from various courses in the college. The principal of the college gave the inaugural talk, and Mrs Prerna welcomed the guest formally. Dr. Urmila Sharma started the lecture by defining gender and explaining the difference between sex and gender. She emphasized that gender is a social construct and it is not limited to males and females only. She talked about the importance of gender sensitization and its impact on society. She highlighted that gender sensitization is not only necessary for creating an equal society but also for personal growth and development. Dr. Sharma discussed various issues related to gender sensitization such as gender-based violence, gender stereotypes, gender bias, and discrimination. She explained how these issues affect individuals and society as a whole. She also talked about the role of education and awareness in promoting gender sensitization.
After the lecture, the students had an interactive session with Dr. Sharma. They asked various questions related to the lecture and shared their experiences and opinions on gender sensitization. The discussion was informative and engaging, and it provided an opportunity for the students to learn from the expert and clarify their doubts.
The extension lecture on Gender Sensitization organized by the Women’s Cell of NBGSM College was a great success. The lecture delivered by Dr. Urmila Sharma was informative and thought-provoking. The event was attended by a large number of students, and the interactive session after the lecture provided an opportunity for the students to share their views and learn from the expert. The principal of the college gave the inaugural talk and appreciated the efforts of the Women’s Cell in organizing such an informative event. Dr. Anshika and Dr. Lipika were also present at the event and showed their support for the cause of gender sensitization. Overall, the event was a great success, and it achieved its objective of creating awareness about gender sensitization among the students.
